Post-War Europe. by lamnay Post-War Europe. by lamnay
I might as well upload this on it's own, as I'll never get round to writing a description.

Fascist France and Italy get crushed in the Second European War with Darmstadt, Lyon and Marseilles being nuked in the process.

France enters a period of chaos after they surrender, with the provisional capital in Montpellier getting nuked by fascist holdouts.

Eventually and alliance of Bonapartists and Socialists managed to take over.

While this was going on Brittany, Normandy and Corsica became independent along with most of France's colonial possessions not confiscated by the Central Powers.

France is rather isolated and militarist, not to the extent of our DPRK, they still remember to feed their people that they are in power because the Germans don't want to have to deal with an occupation.

Denmark got annexed by Germany, with Canada getting Greenland, the Faroes choosing to become a British Crown dependency and Iceland becoming independent.

Bulgaria managed to change sides at just the right time, managing to keep Macedonia and grab territory from Romania.

Ireland became a dominion, a compromise that nobody is happy about, but most can accept.

Turkey and Greece are dealing with angry Arabs.

Why does Bulgaria has Dobrogea ? That belonged to Romania since our independence, several decades before Bulgaria got independence !

Because the Bulgarians were dicks. They changed sides at the right time and betrayed the Romanians. The Romanians were on the losing side so nobody was interested in listening to them after the war. They "secured" the region for the Central Powers and forgot to leave.

They sort of took on the role of Czechoslovakia in our world, getting bits sheared off and made into a protectorate. As soon as possible they turned on the Italians and French and tied up huge numbers of troops.

They got much of Savoy and Lombardy after the peace to weaken France and Italy, and because the people there preferred the security offered by the Swiss to the chaos of post-war France and Italy.

Then you would expect the Netherlands to have gained more land also, right:?

Well, from what I see here, that would only be Flanders, and Wallonia would have gone to France, but if the purpose was to weaken France, then you would expect also Wallonia and Nord-Pas-de-Calais would go to the Netherlands, which have been claimed grounds for centuries. Or am I wrong:?

They would have liked those, but no French government would have given up all of their access to the north sea, and the region is mostly French speaking and Catholic.

Better a stable trade partner than a restive province

wow France and Italy got seriously screwed up. Is there any chance of Brittany and Normandy entiring into some sort of relationship with the UK and commonwealth ?

They already have one, the UK propped up the regional warlords and helped stir up local nationalism, and there are quite a few troops stationed there.

If you mean some kind of political union, the British Monarch might eventually become duke of Normandy, but as they are all kinds of delays and problems.

I figured the UK would have intervened since the regions in question are right across the English Channel and all that, but yeah I ment a political union essential with Normandy at the very least becoming a dominion or even part of the UK itself aka like scotland for example and important and ingetral part of it.

Since the Bonapartists are one of the two groups controling the rest of France is their anychance of a Imperial restoration. Essential france becoming the Third Frence Empire ?.

That's unlikely to happen, the UK is happy with friendly nations acting as a buffer between them and France.

Louis Napoléon got crowned in the 50's and reigned until the 90's with Charles Napoléon being crowned after him.

Spain was a minor participant fighting for France, and were defeated soundly.

Thing were not as chaotic as in France after the war, but still pretty messed up, lots of guns, not many in the hands of soldiers.

French Basques broke away first and supported the Spanish ones. Then the Central Powers stepped in and supported them. They liked their former opponents fractured as much as possible. It set some nasty precedents but it kept the old enemies weakened.
